Some of you may recall the post I did a few days ago as a Google Sniper review, and you may or may not have appreciated the analysis. This post, despite the title, isn't actually a review of that review (well, not mostly) instead it'll be more of my personal results with the system. If you came across this page looking the system itself,

First let me just say that I stand by the system being a non revolutionary way of search engine optimization and clickbank marketing. George Brown's Google Sniper is not notable because of being a revolutionary piece of equipment, but instead for being a manual and video guide that puts together so many concepts that are common knowledge into one place for newbies and middle class marketers. Google sniping is best seen as a way for newbie SEOers (like myself) to get into the game and compete at least moderately with the guys who can just afford to buy up old domains with high PR and interlink them or buy tons of powerful links to catapault to the top of the SERPs for most key terms.
Now I mentioned before I would talk about my results with the Google Sniper method so everyone here will know there isn't a Google Sniper scam- it has worked for me and many others. (oh, and by the way, the post I referenced before ain't ranking for "Google Sniper Scam" yet, hence the title). Well I'm going to break down my experiences into a site I built using George Brown's methods exclusively without tweaking very much, and then my own method of Google Sniping which is really the same thing, even though I "created" it before ever hearing of George's system extensively.
The results (or the fact that I'm sharing them with you) may surprise you. First of all, let's break down the methods of targeting that I mentioned in my earlier Google Sniper review- George's method is to go after long tail keywords that still get a larger search volume per month- in the multiple thousands range (won't give away his exact criteria, but I will say it's below the hundred thousands of searches with the keyword tool- buy the manual if you want more in depth info). Anyway, my method, on the other hand, involves going after long tails that have piss poor searches in an effort to get around initial competition (whose going to target those really weak phrases, I figure). Naturally I still find a lot of competition among the uber long tails, because I try and find terms that get around 500 searches per month. I won't go into my methods extensively (mostly because this is still a Google Sniper review and not a tutorial) but just keep this in mind as we continue with our "Google sniping".
George Brown's Google Sniper also goes into LSI keywords and his methods are very specific in how he picks the best keywords to incorporate and yet also very effective. I think if there was one reason to get Google Sniper, it'd be because of his LSI analysis.

Okay, think I'm done with the plugs, on with the Google Sniper review! As I was saying on Google sniping, LSI keywords are important and he lays out a specific foundation on finding them and using the best ones to get better ranking. The "sniper sites" I have created without knowing about his knowledge on these keywords used a variety of basic LSIs of varying importance in Google's eyes that I had no idea I was using! I had only just discovered LSIs and keywords etc. when I created my first sniper site- one targeting a low competition keyphrase (gets exactly 390 searches a month, according to Google). So I was just using "natural" LSI keywords and not actually targeting them. You probably do the same thing. If you write about cooking then pots, pans, and maybe specific ovens are going to be mentioned naturally, right? I was doing the same with my niche site. That being said I was still only targeting one keyword consciously and trying to rank for it.
Google Sniper streamlines finding the LSIs and choosing the ones to target, and I did indeed use this knowledge from George Brown's Google Sniper when creating my site according to him.
But the biggest factor in ranking is backlinks. At least that's what most would say, but George Brown's Google sniper makes it apparent that this may not be true. Not for his sites, any way. I already mentioned in my "Google Sniper scam" post that the system uses a unique way of getting backlinks and that you only need to get them once to reap the benefits. This is not the path I took with my own sniper site. Au contraire, I used a wealth of Web 2.0 properties, Free Traffic system, social book marking, and so much more to get backlinks it's not even funny. With Google Sniper I did his one maneuver (find out what it is by getting the manual) and that was it.
Now the moment you've all been waiting for in this Google Sniper review (if you call it that) is how my sites stacked up. Well, in terms of setup time and ease of creation, the Google Sniper site created from George's teachings was FAR easier to setup and manage. I did postings as he suggested and they took very little time. My own site I periodically went back and posted again to try and keep it fresh up until the end of September where I let it ferment in its place in the rankings.
But in terms of actually ranking... My "George Brown's Google Sniper" site failed. My other site ranked almost out of the gate on page 3, and then moved to bottom of page 2, and slowly moved all the way to its standing now (which, granted, varies a bit, but I've yet to see it go past the first result on page two, and most of the time it's on page 1 in the 5th position)
I'm sure you're wondering "How could he just admit that, isn't that completely ridiculous if he wants people to buy from him?!" and the truth is, I can admit it because I don't want you to buy from me. Well, if you do buy from me or anyone I won't hold it against you, but I'm not doing this as a way to get sales. These last two posts are honest reviews of the Google Sniper method and while I think the manual is great if you're anything less than an advanced marketer, I don't think it's a requirement as you can plainly see by my assessment of the sites. That being said, I think that George's system has merit enough to try again- I said my first site failed, but truth be told it ranked a lot better than I expected. And by that I mean I didn't think a site with essentially no backlinks would ever crawl to the 17th page for a key term that gets 3000+ searches per month. My little site above got an alleged 1/6 the search volume and struggled to rank on page 3 at first, so to get to page 17 feels really great.
I think the best Google Sniper method is to combine old school wisdom and tactics with Google Sniper's new style of ranking. The super in depth on page optimization AND tons of backlink building will inevitably get you better rankings. Reading Google Sniper made me realize that I was putting so much emphasis on off page optimization- because let's face it, Google does favor backlinks above all other factors- that I didn't really give decent on page optimization a shot. Mentioning your key terms a few times and altering image tags and meta tags is a good start, but you really do need to work extensively with LSIs, almost acting like they are your main key words. It's confusing coming from me secondhand, so I suggest you check out Google Sniper for yourself.
Hope you enjoyed this secondary Google Sniper review.
