"I'll bite you to death"- Hibari KyoyaThe above picture is from Katekyoushi Hitman, Reborn!, which is basically about a baby being a mob boss. Weird, I know, but no one cares because the dude above is made of awesome win. Winsome, you might call it. Enough with the anime, though, on to the point of the post...
I broke down. All last week, the most I did in the internet marketing world was mill through some ebooks and write a couple of articles spread throughout the week. And troll through internet marketing forums for no good reason than to make myself feel better for knowing half the common problems now. Oh, and of course, I earned a few pennies through Adsense (to be honest, I'm kind of proud of my little $0.30 days, especially since I haven't touched the hubs/blogs I put up that are earning it). However, I think last week was a crucial week in a way. Why? It gave me a chance to clear my head, stop chasing after the quickest way to get sales, and, most importantly, to break out of the drudgery of constantly slinging articles or forum posts out for backlinks and let my web properties "stew", as PotPieGirl says (oh yeah, and I took a jab at One Week Marketing the last week in September). When I was keeping constant watch over one of my blogs, it seemed every day it got lower and lower, and then every now and then it would freakishly jump to the first page in position 7 or something, and then drop again. Last week it disappeared completely up until yesterday, where it (hopefully) solidified its ranking in ranking 6 for the keyword. Well, solidified until I throw more backlinks its way.
Anyway, if I hadn't taken this last week to just adjust, and sit back and take a look at what working, I wouldn't have come up with how I want to continue. Now my 20 articles will be focusing on one niche. I also think I'll syndicate these articles in several article directories, but the main article (which I would actually want to rank for its keyword) will be at either Ezinearticles or Articlesbase, as they have gotten the best results of all the article directories I've been testing out. I think instead of focusing on massive volume in the purest sense, I'll aim for low competition keywords, do maybe 4 or 5 articles a day on them, and then follow the method Ryan Moran talks about for article marketing. The main problem for me is figuring out how I want to do my landing page. I think I'll create a testimonial style landing page for this campaign to start with, and then do this same method again next week marketing a different landing page (review style). I'll see which one works best eventually and then try and figure out why.
But I would not have been able to get this far without just admitting this stuff is overwhelming. I think the best advice I've ever heard starting out in internet marketing is that sometimes you just need to take a break. And that's exactly what I did.
Well, that's about it. Relatively short post, but I'm going to try and keep things weekly from here on out. I also think I'm going to try out One Week Marketing again. To be honest, PotPieGirl's system is probably the greatest one I've come across, but I think Google's a little ahead of Squidoo now for it to be truly effective any more. I'm going to make a few tweaks and use different free web properties while I let my present One Week Marketing campaign simmer.
Well, that's it for me. I hope everyone else's stuff has been going well, and if you dropped by expecting something important or worthwhile, my bad, lol!
Peace,
Broke
