So this post is more or less a segueway into a series of other posts that will be coming. Firstly, I'll probably post later this week (Wednesday, I'm thinking) about how Week 2 of the Wealthy Affiliate 8 week action plan is going, as I just got access to it today. The next project on my list is the reason this post is title like it is.
Remember last post when I mentioned another project? Well now I'm stepping back and looking at that project and I don't think that it's the best time to be focusing on that now. So what was the project? Well, since you're so curious, I'll tell you: Hubpages. 100 Hubpages, to be exact.
I got the idea from the semi-famous Keyword Academy co-founder, Courtney Tuttle. Basically, a few months ago, Courtney, or Court as he's more commonly known, decided that hubpages was a great way to make money and build backlinks etc. So he set out to create 100 niche-specific well backlinked hubpages in 30 days. The great thing about Hubpages (you can sign up here) is a free to write kind of site, like Wikipedia or Squidoo, or Knol. You sign up and write about whatever, and then others read your articles- or "hubs" as they're called on hubpages- and you can even get paid! Of course, the payment is based on Adsense clicks, so if you don't get any clicks, you don't get any cash. But over all, a lot of people are making money online with hubpages even without dozens of hubs, much less hundreds.
Courts project results were.... surprising, to say the least, check them out:
http://thekeywordacademy.com/make-money-online-with-hubpages-experiment-complete/
For those that didn't feel like reading, he made a total of 475.26 during his little experiment! Pretty good, huh? Especially when you consider that it's residual income that will probably keep growing as his hubs get more views and backlinks.
Other people from the Keyword Academy (which is actually a pretty cool site in and of itself; you should check it out to find out more about proper keyword research and how to figure out the value of keywords using free tools) and even normal hubbers joined in and one guy, Ben of Make Money Online with SEO actually one upped the challenge and made 200 hubs in 30 days to pull in a profit of $354. Now his hubs are making around $100 a day altogether, if I remember correctly.
So you won't be surprised when I tell you that my plan was to revamp this challenge and do it for myself. Unfortunately, this month has been pretty hectic. I started last week and so far I've only made about 9 hubs. Not good. The reasoning for this is compound: First, I had to do a lot of stuff for school. Second, I was testing for KGB- which is basically a predecessor to ChaCha, the txt based question-answer service I told you about a few posts ago. But these things weren't really so bad. What really threw me off was my Super Sponsorship over at Tissa's forum (that's ACME People Search, if you remember.
After getting that money, I realized that instead of focusing on the hubs, which were free and I could do any time, I should focus more on affiliate marketing. Marketing for Adsense takes a while and I don't like the sounds of google being able to pull the rug out from beneath you whenever.
So, in summation, my hubpages secret experiment is canceled. Or at least postponed. Until I finish the 8 week action plan, at the least. I've really wanted to give Wealthy Affiliate a shot since I heard about it, so hopefully it won't be a waste and I'll make some money.
